About

The historic Maydestone apartment project sits on the border of midtown and downtown Sacramento across from the Convention Center and Memorial Auditorium. This national historic building is located in one of the most desirable areas of the central city grid within close proximity to an abundance of exciting restaurants, retail, night life, and Capitol Park. Preservation Development LLC in collaboration with the City of Sacramento and Sacramento Housing and Redevelopment Agency (SHRA) completed the renovation of this historic 32 unit building in the Summer of 2011. Comprised of studios and one bedrooms, units range in size size from approx 300-700 sq ft and rents range from $700-$1500 per month. A unique community room including fitness area, office area, and individual storage units are also part of the project.

SMUDRehab of an existing urban infill site is a significant green conscious measure itself. Additionally, the historic Maydestone rehab was designed to be energy efficient through coordination with SMUD's "Saving by Design" team. Some of these green conscious features include: energy efficient heating and air conditioning units, a solar hot water system, energy efficient insulation measures, LED lighting, a hybrid energy elevator system, solar paneling for common area electrical use, and "Energy Star" appliances. 

Other green conscious features include rainwater harvesting system, use of recyclable materials during construction, recycling of construction debris during demolition work, and use of VOC paint and other construction materials.
